Em 1989, o físico John Archibald Wheeler propôs uma ideia perturbadora: It from Bit. A realidade física emerge da informação. Não como metáfora — como hipótese científica séria.
As Teorias Informacionais partem desta intuição e desenvolvem-na em quatro camadas articuladas: a natureza da informação primordial (TIT), a organização das estruturas existentes (OID/U), o processo de revelação mútua entre estruturas (TRD), e a emergência da consciência (HEIC).
Não é uma substituição da física, da biologia ou da filosofia. É uma linguagem transversal que permite pensar a pedra e o pensamento, o electrão e a emoção, dentro do mesmo quadro conceptual — sem forçar reduções que apagam o que há de específico em cada nível.
A sua força está precisamente aqui: em ser inclusiva onde outras teorias são exclusivas, e rigorosa onde outras são vagas.
Antes da matéria, há distinção. Antes da energia, há diferença. E diferença é informação.

Como a informação primordial se organiza em estruturas com identidade e persistência. Uma OID/U é qualquer padrão informacional suficientemente coerente para existir — de um electrão a uma galáxia, de uma célula a uma civilização. A identidade não é a matéria: é o padrão que a matéria expressa.
Como as estruturas se tornam visíveis umas para as outras através de apertos de mão informacionais — trocas bilaterais que transformam ambas as partes. A realidade não é estática: é um processo contínuo de revelação mútua. A TRD não exige um observador consciente: qualquer interacção física é já revelação.
Quando certas estruturas atingem densidade, integração e recursividade informacional suficientes, emerge algo sem precedente no universo: um interior. Uma perspectiva de primeira pessoa. O universo a sentir-se a si mesmo de dentro. A HEIC formaliza este processo na equação C = f(D, I, R).
As quatro teorias não são independentes. Formam uma hierarquia de complexidade crescente — cada camada emerge da anterior e abre possibilidades que a anterior não continha.
Não há ruptura entre o físico e o mental. A consciência não é um ingrediente especial acrescentado de fora — é o que acontece quando a informação se organiza de certas formas, com a mesma inevitabilidade com que a água ferve a cem graus.
Cada nível produz propriedades que não existem nos níveis inferiores. A liquidez não está em nenhuma molécula de H₂O. A consciência não está em nenhum neurónio. Emergem da organização — são reais e irredutíveis às suas partes.
O nível mais alto da hierarquia — a consciência que desenvolve teorias sobre a informação — é feito da mesma substância que estuda. O instrumento de conhecimento é parte do que é conhecido. Este não é um defeito da teoria: é a sua condição de honestidade.
O tempo não é um palco onde o universo existe — é algo que o universo gera através das suas próprias correlações internas. A cada aperto de mão entre estruturas, o tempo emerge como sequência de antes e depois.
